Marissa and Matt were so much fun to plan their mountain elopement with. Marissa and I chatted over email about details to their elopement, from bouquets to snacks and I loved it! The result of all that prep was a mountain elopement in the North Cascades, specifically Mt Baker, that was truly epic and full of adventure and love.
Let the elopement begin!
Matt and Marissa had never been to the North Cascades, so I was super stoked to help as much as I could to make sure Marissa and Matt had a fun, stress free elopement. The couple rented a cabin through Airbnb to get ready and take some first look photos. The cabin was amazing with two floors and it was so sweet to listen to Marissa and Matt get ready out of sight of each other, but still chatting and helping each other prep. Marissa’s makeup was taken care of by the fabulous Natasha Gendron and her hair by the talented Hair by Areca and it was such a fun time with music playing in the background and Marissa glowing. And the entire day was captured by Splendent Films. You can actually see Marissa and Matt’s completed video to get a sense of how magical their day was from start to finish.
After first looks, we all headed up the mountain for the ceremony on the side of an alpine lake. The mountains loomed in the background as Marissa and Matt made their vows and filled out the official marriage license.
Fun fact: did you know that as your photographer, I can act as a witness on your marriage license? I love it! Not only do I get to capture your day but I get to help make it official. So special and such an honor!
Next was a sunset hike. The weather was absolutely perfect and this area is seriously breathtaking. Marissa had her Teva hiking boots on and we hiked down the trail, stopping to take in the views, capture some photos and chat with smiling well wishers.

We stopped on the side of an alpine lake for Marissa and Matt to share a picnic and take in the views. The snacks were in full force as was the cake and some of the best mini cupcakes I’ve ever had. We continued to hike along the mountain ridges and that’s where Marissa and Matt chose to say their vows to each other. It was just me, splendid films and the couple during these moments and it was so beautiful. Matt and Marissa couldn’t have asked for a better view, better weather.
Matt twirled Marissa along the trails as the sun was setting. The rays painted to peaks in hues of yellow, orange, purple and blue. As we made our way back, darkness started to creep in and Mount Baker was brilliant and majestic in the dimming blue light. We snacked on cupcakes and gasped over the views as the day came to an end.
